EDWARD III
By William Shakespeare
|
March 2007:
Edward III... yeah, so it turns out Shakespeare did write it. Or so they're saying. Anyway, as I continue to pursue that ubiquitous goal of all classical actors -- performing every Shakespearean play in the canon -- I figured I better get in on this one while I could. When else am I going to get the chance to perform in Edward @*#$(% III?
This is also my first role with a Scottish accent. I imagine it will amuse many Americans and infuriate many Scots.
After Edward's done, come this summer I'll be performing at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, about which I have three words:
Sweet. Geek. Heaven.
To put that in perspective, let's just say that I auditioned with a monologue from Henry V, a song from Battlestar Galactica, and a demonstration of my ability to play the tunes from the Buffy musical episode on the piano. And the casting director thought all of this was a good thing.
Yeah. Total dream job.
